On September 28, 2012, the Food and Drug Administration announced a voluntary recall issued by Dale and Thomas Popcorn for certain ready-to-eat bags of popcorn. Certain flavors of the popcorn may contain Listeria monocytogenes.
The Indiana-brand products are distributed to numerous retailers, vendors, distribution centers, and consumers on the internet. The contaminated products were distributed on or after August 8, 2012, and the recalled products have an expiration date between February 4, 2013 and March 12, 2013. All of the products were packaged in various sized red bags. Consumer should check the best by dates on the top-right corner on the front of the bag.

Listeria can cause high fevers, intense headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea in healthy adults. Pregnant women can experience a miscarriage or stillbirth if they contract Listeria.
