On November 10, 2012, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the Jimmy Dean® was voluntarily recalling its Jimmy Dean French Toast & Sausage Sandwich with the following code: 12292P1.  The company reports that it decided to voluntarily recall the sandwich because egg and soy are not listed on the label and these ingredients are potentially dangerous to some consumers.

In order to find the sandwich’s code, look below the ingredient listing on the back label.  

Only the following states are affected by the Jimmy Dean® recall: Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.  If consumers are not allergic to egg or soy, they do not need to take any precaution during the voluntary recall.  However, consumers who are allergic to the undeclared ingredients need to take extra caution because of the risk of anaphylactic shock.  

 About 1,110 pounds of the Jimmy Dean® French Toast & Sausage Sandwich are affected by the recall.  As mentioned above, the recalled product has an item code of 12292P1, and the UPC code for the sandwich is 5450051434.

No other products are associated with the voluntary recall by Jimmy Dean®.  The company has not received any reports on illnesses connected with the unlabeled product, but consumers still need to take precaution.
